"Shiva of Obligations"
Sketch for ChalkArt |

CHALKart,
June 5, 2004
Webster Street Market, Dayton, Ohio
sponsored by the Dayton Visual Arts Center
and other area merchants
Eastridge used the imagery of the traditional Hindu
Lord Shiva, and adapted it to her vision of
contemporary, daily lives and how we can become
consumed by the simple tasks and larger obligations
of our daily lives, such as "Cook Dinner," "Feed the
Baby," "Make Art," Walk the Dog," etc. (these
reminders among other obligations surround the Shiva
of Obligations on the blacktop pictured below) .
Eastridge dedicates this to all the great balancers
of our lives, who have single-handedly taken on the
many tasks that life demands.
